I discovered the investment industry at thirteen years old - out of all places, from a "Home Economics" class in my public middle school in upstate New York. We were assigned a 300 question survey, which determined my top career prospects: money manager, venture capitalist, and wedding planner. So, aided by Google, I wrote a paper on how to become an investor - from the best universities to attend and courses to take to the typical career arc and skills I'd develop. While I've taken some detours along the way, that paper became the blueprint to the next 15 years of my life.
After working in the investment seat for nearly a decade, I see the biggest opportunity to create alpha today to be within fundraising / capital formation. I believe the private equity funds that will endure will pair a solid investment strategy with a first-class investor relations function: deep product expertise, intentional LP targeting, and long-term relationship building with a service-first approach. Why am I fit? I've worked at 3 top quartile PE firms in the investor seat, helped launch an investment firm as interim COO, and began my career doing PE fund due diligence at a renown multi-family office managing $40B+ AUM. My investment experience enables me to speak to the granularities of a deal while also being able to zoom out and speak to broader investment and firm strategy.
